DEMO ALEX ZEPPOS, J.D., LL.M. (Taxation)
Mr. Zeppos specializes in advising closely-held businesses with the complexities of the business and tax law issues that they may encounter. His services include forming and capitalizing corporations and limited liability companies, reviewing and drafting contracts, real estate agreements and loan documents, and planning for mergers and acquisitions. His services also include estate planning for wealthy families and business owners with a focus on providing practical tax planning on a forward looking basis. Prior to founding the Zeppos Law Firm in 2004, Mr. Zeppos worked in two Big 4 Accounting Firms as a tax manager and consultant, and has over ten years experience working as an attorney and tax consultant.
At Ernst & Young in Orange County, Mr. Zeppos managed the tax consulting process for Fortune 500 clients and large real estate developers. He provided research and tax opinions for real estate, partnership and corporate tax planning engagements for both large and closely-held businesses. Prior to moving to California, Mr. Zeppos worked at KPMG in Chicago where he collaborated with other attorneys and tax professionals in reviewing various corporate mergers and acquisitions. His work included developing real estate tax minimization strategies for real estate clients and was awarded KPMG's "Creative Tax Innovation Award" for his accomplishments. In addition to his work experience with the Big 4 accounting firms, Mr. Zeppos started his legal career working on general business transactional matters where his responsibilities included drafting opinions and legal agreements for mid-sized banks and Fortune 500 clients on employment-immigration, real estate, and tax law issues. He also represented individual and corporate clients in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, New Jersey Superior Court, and Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court on transactional and real estate issue.
Mr. Zeppos earned his Juris Doctorate (JD) and Masters of Taxation degree (LL.M.) from the Villanova University School of Law. His undergraduate education included attendance at both the University of Pennsylvania and Lehigh University, and he graduated with high honors with a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Lehigh University in 1995. Mr. Zeppos has been admitted to the State Bars of California (2003), New Jersey (1998), and Pennsylvania (1998). He is also licensed to practice in the U.S. Tax Court and is a member of the American Bar Association (Member Special Tax Section) and Orange County Bar Association.
Mr. Zeppos has lectured graduate and undergraduate students at Pepperdine University’s School of Business and at Cal State Fullerton on choice of business entity tax planning for start-up and existing businesses.
Mr. Zeppos is an active member within his local community and regularly donates his services to several Greek Orthodox Churches in Southern California and to the Trinity Children's Foundation, a non-profit institution that provides foster care services to disadvantaged children throughout the United States. Mr. Zeppos resides in Ladera Ranch with his wife, Christine, and their three children.
